Today, we’re announcing how we’re using Gemini to boost our smart home devices and experiences, while reinventing two of our most iconic and beloved devices: Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) and our latest streaming device: Google TV Streamer.
Google TV Streamer is designed to give you the best entertainment and smart home experience possible. It replaces Chromecast, bringing its best features to our next-generation 4K TV streaming device — but as a faster, more premium version.
Complete with the best of Google TV, Google TV Streamer doubles as a smart home hub for your Google Home and Matter devices. It also has a sleek design that fits right into your home’s decor without standing out.
The best of Google TV for AI-powered, personalized entertainment
Streaming has boomed in popularity, meaning more options for what to watch than ever before. Google TV Streamer offers access to 700,000+ movies and shows through streaming apps like YouTube TV, Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV and more, in addition to live TV with 800+ free channels. To make it easier to find what to watch, Google TV Streamer uses Google AI and your preferences to curate content suggestions across all of your subscriptions, organized conveniently in one place. You can even build watchlists with recommendations for every member of your home.
And thanks to Gemini technology on Google TV, you can now get full summaries, reviews and season-by-season breakdowns of content, so finding your next marathon-watch just got easier.
With ambient mode, you can turn an idle TV into a work of art. Use your voice to pull up favorite memories from your Google Photos, like your last family vacation, or create one-of-a-kind screensaver art with generative AI — just use your voice to describe your vision, or let a guided experience inspire you.
A giant leap in performance
For a premium streaming experience, you need a premium streaming device. Google TV Streamer offers an improved processor, double the memory and 32GB of storage for faster app load times and smoother navigation than previous generation Chromecast. And with 4K HDR with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, every detail, sound and image feels like a cinematic experience.
You can connect your Google TV Streamer to a Wi-Fi network, or use an ethernet port for faster, buffer-free streaming with snappier navigation and app loading or switching. We designed Google TV Streamer to sit in front of your TV, rather than tucked behind it, to improve connectivity across your smart home devices.
An even more connected smart home
If you’re one of the many people living in a smart home today, you know how helpful it is to have a simple way to control and connect your gadgets. Google TV Streamer has connectivity support for Matter, along with a built-in Thread border router, a technology that allows you to quickly and safely connect smart home devices like locks and motion sensors. Together, this allows your smart home devices to work as a team with faster response times and improved reliability.
We're also bringing the Google Home panel to the biggest screen in your home. The home panel lets you check your cameras (see who's there when your Nest Doorbell rings!), adjust the lights and temperature, close the blinds and more — without leaving your couch. It automatically syncs with your Google Home app, so it works with millions of devices, like the new Nest Learning Thermostat.
For an even better connected experience, Google TV Streamer allows you to cast media from your phone, add it to speaker groups and control music in your house directly from your TV.
Thoughtfully designed for your home and hand
Google TV Streamer is available in two neutral colors: Porcelain and Hazel (exclusively available only in the U.S. Google Store). Its low-profile form is sleek and stylish so you can tuck it neatly between your TV and the media console, and to allow for that handy ethernet port.
Based on user feedback, we’ve redesigned the voice remote, making it easier and more comfortable to hold with improved ergonomics, like a textured back for better grip and an optimized button layout to fit hands of all sizes. You can also program its new customizable button to immediately open your favorite app, switch inputs or launch the Google Home panel with just one click.
While voice search makes it simple to find your favorite content, you can now find your lost remote via voice as well. Just ask your nearest Google Assistant-enabled speaker or Pixel phone for help by saying, “Hey Google, find my remote,” and the remote will beep. You can also press the button on the back of your Google TV Streamer or from the Google Home app to chime the remote, too.
