Learn how to write AI prompts in 5 easy steps with this new course from Google

We believe everyone has the potential to reach new heights with the help of AI. We also realize that it can be difficult to know where to start. After all, using AI is still new for many, with nine out of ten workers saying they lack AI skills.

Today, we’re excited to announce the launch of our Google Prompting Essentials course, designed to teach everyone how to get the most out of AI. This course will equip people with the prompting skills and techniques they need to harness the power of AI to accomplish everyday tasks, enhance their creativity, save time and get more done. Great prompting can help people uncover new insights and tackle complex projects.

This course was developed by AI experts at Google and builds on the foundational concepts from Google AI Essentials — the most popular generative AI course on Coursera of all time, globally. Through activities and workplace examples, learners will know how to effectively instruct AI models to maximize their productivity and discover new uses for AI in their everyday lives and work.

In the short course, you will learn how to prompt and get the most out of generative AI in just five easy steps. With hands-on exercises and real-world examples, you’ll discover how to:

  • Quickly adapt emails for different audiences
  • Summarize lengthy documents into key takeaways
  • Brainstorm fresh ideas for a project
  • Build engaging presentations and get feedback on your delivery
  • Analyze data and make compelling visualizations
  • Use AI responsibly by recognizing biases and errors

Throughout the course, you’ll build a library of reusable prompts, so you’re not prompting from scratch. Upon completion, you’ll earn a certificate from Google which you can add to your resume and professional profiles.

Google Prompting Essentials is part of Google’s commitment to using our AI expertise to help people, communities and businesses. That’s why we’re collaborating with our Grow with Google Employer Consortium to help businesses train their teams to make the most of AI. For example, organizations like Rocket Companies and Siemens will be offering this new course to their employees.
