Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 Gaady Awards

The Gaady Awards are like the Emmy Awards for the field of digital accessibility. And, just like the Emmys, the Gaadys are a reason to celebrate!

On November 21, GitHub was honored to roll out the red carpet for the accessibility community at our San Francisco headquarters. As the home of all developers—and we do mean all developers regardless of ability—we were thrilled to throw a house party for three organizations that have integrated accessibility as a core requirement throughout the development process.

So, without further ado, let’s celebrate the winners.

GoodMaps app for indoor navigation

GoodMaps is revolutionizing indoor navigation by making complex spaces accessible for everyone. Their innovative technology helps people with disabilities, language barriers, or simply a need for guidance navigation confidently and independently.

The Gaadys were started by the Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) Foundation. The mission of the GAAD Foundation is to disrupt the culture of technology and digital product development to include accessibility as a core requirement. In addition to the Gaadys, the GAAD Foundation gets everyone talking, thinking, and learning about digital accessibility and disability inclusion on Global Accessibility Awareness Day, which is held the third Thursday of every May. The next Global Accessibility Awareness Day will be May 15, 2025. Start making plans to celebrate today!
