Gemini is designed to be your personal AI assistant — one that’s conversational, intuitive and helpful. To make it even more accessible and useful, we’re expanding Gemini Live to more languages, allowing you to have natural conversations in different languages. Furthermore, Gemini will be able to connect to more Google apps in different languages, making it easier to access information and complete tasks across your favorite Google services.
Gemini Live: Now speaking your language
At Made by Google this year, we introduced Gemini Live, allowing people to have free-flowing, natural conversations with Gemini in English. Starting today and rolling out over the coming weeks, we’re expanding Gemini Live on Android phones to more than 40 languages, so more people can chat, collaborate and experience conversational AI in different languages.
Gemini Live will support conversations in up to two languages on the same device, and we plan to expand to more languages in the future. You can easily set your preferred languages in the Google app:
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google app and at the top, tap your profile picture or initial.
- Tap Settings > Google Assistant > Languages.
- Choose a supported language.
- Optionally, you can add a second supported language. For now, you can set and use up to two languages with Gemini Live.
Your conversational AI partner
Gemini Live is truly conversational. It’s like having a chat with a friend: you can brainstorm ideas, explore new topics or even practice for a big presentation. Gemini Live can keep up with your conversations so you can interrupt, change direction or dive deeper on a particular subject. And with 10 distinct voices to choose from, you can customize your experience and find the perfect tone and style for your conversation.
Here are just a few examples of what you can do with Gemini Live:
- Ask for advice: Brainstorm with Gemini on a range of topics, such as potential jobs that are well-suited to your skillset or degree.
- Plan for an event: Chat with Gemini about hosting a birthday party for friends and family.
- Dive into new subjects and expand your horizons: Ask Gemini Live about historical events, scientific concepts or even the rules of a game like chess or mahjong.
- Explore new local topics and ideas: Chat with Gemini about topics specific to your region or interests.
Your favorite apps, now connected with Gemini
Since we brought Extensions directly into Gemini, people have been getting more things done with apps and services they already use like Gmail, Maps and YouTube. We recently announced we’re expanding the capability to connect even more Google tools in English, including Google Calendar, Tasks, Keep and Utilities. With Extensions, Gemini can pull together what you need from other apps and services to help you get things done across them easier and faster.
Over the coming weeks, you'll be able to connect to new tools across different apps and in more languages, making it even easier to get things done. Here are a few examples of how you can use Gemini extensions in your language:
- Have Gemini dig out that lasagna recipe sent to you in your Gmail, and ask it to add the ingredients to your shopping list in Keep.
- Snap a photo of a concert flier and ask Gemini if you're free that day — and even set a reminder to buy tickets.
- Ask Gemini when your favorite comic book movie is next out and then ask it to remind you a week before to buy tickets for it.
A world of possibilities, in your language
We believe everyone should have access to the power of AI. By expanding Gemini Live and app connections to more languages, we're making this a reality, helping people worldwide connect with information and experience the benefits of an AI-powered assistant.
