24 new Chrome themes from our Rising Artists Series

September kicks off a season of change: new school year, new you — and new Chrome themes to match.

A few years ago, we launched the Chrome-sponsored Artist Series to celebrate creativity from artists from across the world and make their pieces available as custom themes in Chrome. For our latest collection — available starting today — we commissioned six talented rising artists from different walks of life to showcase their work in Chrome: Kaitlin Brito, Kanioko, Kate Dehler, Martha Olivia, Melcher Oosterman and DIRTYPOTE.

Here’s what they shared about their designs:

    “Breathe Nature” by DIRTYPOTE

Breathing in the fresh air, resting, rejuvenating, connecting with nature… and nature connects with us. It's really about me (and a lot of other people) when they need to recharge their batteries.

    “Burst” by Kate Dehler

There is an optimism to Google Chrome, to the idea of the world at your fingertips. When you begin a new search, you embark on a journey to discover something. You take figuring something out into your own hands. With this theme, called “Burst,” I wanted to set the stage for that journey, giving it a joyful, energizing start.

    “Creative Space” by Kaitlin Brito

The inspiration behind "Creative Space" comes from my favorite thing about illustrating: I get to make images that sometimes can't exist in real life and can only exist in a drawing. When I’m sitting at my desk to draw, I often imagine what it would be like to sit and live in the worlds I create.

  • Image of Chrome theme designed by artist Kanioko

    “Love is Universal” by Kanioko

This piece is heavily inspired by the early ‘70s sci-fi movies and geek culture. Looking into it is also a reminder that we as humans, no matter the nationality, must cultivate peace and love above our differences. I find that really powerful and inspiring.

  • Image of Chrome theme designed by artist Martha Olivia

    “Discovery” by Martha Olivia

Discovery aims to depict the search for escapism, exploration and wonder. With a curious discoverer emerging from a lush green jungle, looking out into the horizon for the next adventure.

  • Image of Chrome theme designed by artist Melcher Oosterman

    “Gone Fishing” by Melcher Oosterman

I use fishing as a metaphor for finding inspiration. You have to venture out of your comfort zone to find new places and different feelings. By allowing yourself to receive ideas rather than force them, you can catch the best fish. Patience is key!

Head over to the Chrome Web Store to explore the Rising Artists Series. Find a theme that speaks to you, click "Add to Chrome," and enjoy the vibrant colors and uplifting designs. You can also open a new tab in Chrome and click the “Customize Chrome” button in the bottom right to view and apply themes from this collection.

And while you’re there, check out our previous collections from AAPI, Black, Latino, LGBTQ+ and Native American artists.
